Bones Black: Mudmen (2)
In blighted lands, dark energies flow and pool, sometimes giving rise to dangerous creatures compelled to sow pain and death. Mudmen are the product of dark magic and murky water, where many have perished. These creatures lurk in the muck, waiting for the unsuspecting to approach their pools. The mudmen erupt in an explosion of mud, attempting to envelop interlopers and drown them.

Adventurers returning from the Caverns of Doom report stumbling upon a muddy, uninviting sublevel of the famed dungeon. They speak of bubbling pools and mud geysers that threatened to drown them at every turn. They quickly found themselves caught in the middle of a war between invading firenewts and the mudmen lurking in the pools.
